      <image:title>About Graham Gough - Who am I?</image:title>
<image:caption>I grew up deeply emotional and sensitive - and spent most of my early life hiding it. I was rebellious at school and submissive at home. I was bullied badly, and became a bully. I believed that sensitivity was a weakness, that being a man meant being stoic, and that the safest thing was to present as strong at all times. Underneath all of it was a profound loneliness I had no language for and no way to reach. I spent fifteen years in corporate marketing. I was good at it. I sat in boardrooms watching everyone lie in collusion to justify a facade, and for a long time, I did the same. Between 2014 and 2019, while losing interest in keeping my mask, I would go on over 50 spiritual retreats, multiple training courses, and seek out radical experiences across the globe until I could no longer invest my will in something so far from my heart's desire. I left. What came next was less a career change and more a series of returns. The path back My healing journey began in 2014. What it eventually gave me was presence. The most profound experiences of connection in my life had always felt accidental, unreachable. The work gave me the key to access them, to create them, to live in them. I found the on switch. The path took me through many modalities, some transformative, some harmful. I explored medicine ceremonies in the UK, Portugal and Peru, conscious sexuality work, and somatic experiencing therapy. I learned as much from the poorly held containers as I did from the powerful ones. Along the way, I resolved experiences I had carried since childhood - including a near-death experience and sexual abuse - that had shaped everything without my knowing it. Each training I undertook was also, underneath it, a search for something in myself. I trained as a hypnotherapist to find my voice - and discovered I could access parts of myself I hadn't known were there, bringing something more sincere and embodied to everything I said and did. I became a sexological bodyworker to reconnect with pleasure - and found where the trauma of abuse had been stored in my body and my mind. I saw how my fears had become eroticised, how terror had become stuck in my belly, how much my heart longed for intimate connection without sexual confusion. I understood for the first time how important it was to work through my own abuse in order to support others in meeting their torment with sincere compassion and acceptance. I knew what it would take. I co-stewarded Emergence Brotherhood to share my love with men, and found my way back to them. As a child, I had formed deep friendships with boys. Over the decades, I had come to see men as antagonists, their love as threatening to the identity I was performing. Working through same-sex childhood abuse at a powerful point of liberation in my life, I found an increasing space for men as supporters, mentors, friends, and brothers. I allowed my heart to love men again. I trained as a psychedelic guide to find my way home. By then, I'd learned to journey sexually, shamanically, soulfully, and with great courage through my other experiences. What the training gave me was something different - how to build safety so that others could go into profound unsafety. Everything came together here. I trained as a NARM practitioner to deepen my humanity - to develop the posture of loving presence and curiosity that this work demands, and to deepen my understanding of the architecture of complex trauma and longing. NARM asks you to meet every human with respect for their dignity. I felt the reverence of that, and I still do. Where I am now I've been a facilitator and co-steward of Emergence Brotherhood since 2022, holding immersive spaces for men to meet what they've been carrying and find their way back to themselves. I lead medicine-assisted therapeutic retreats in the UK and Europe, co-facilitating groups of up to twelve alongside trusted and loved colleagues. I work one-to-one with people online, using NARM as the primary framework alongside somatic and shamanic approaches developed through my own healing journey. I maintain ongoing supervision, personal practice, and therapeutic process. This work asks that of me, and I take it seriously. What I'm here for I know what it is to be cut off from yourself - to function, to perform, to survive - while something essential in you goes untouched. I know what it is to find the way back. That's what I offer. A path I've walked myself, and walk alongside others. Much love, Graham x</image:caption>
